Baseball takes down UTA, 10-5

In a compelling baseball match, Texas Baseball demonstrated their prowess by registering 12 hits and securing a 10-5 victory over UT Arlington. The exciting match unfolded on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The Longhorns (33-17, 12-9) have been on a winning streak, with this marking their third consecutive victory. This win helps them kick off their seven-game homestand to wrap up the season in a promising manner.

Charlie Hurley was the starting pitcher and exhibited a solid performance for five innings, conceding only two runs on five hits. His skillful play, including two strikeouts and zero walks, earned him his fourth victory of the season.

David Shaw followed suit by delivering two scoreless innings of relief, and Heston Tole maintained the momentum with a scoreless eighth inning from the bullpen.

Porter Brown showcased impressive batting skills, going 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBI, and three runs scored. Peyton Powell, Garret Guillemette, and Eric Kennedy also contributed with two hits each.

The Longhorns took an early 1-0 lead with Powell smashing a solo home run in the first inning. Dylan Campbell then extended the lead to 3-0 in the second inning with a two-run single, extending his Longhorn record hitting streak to 27 games.

The Longhorns further widened the gap in the third inning, thanks to Brown’s hustling double and Kennedy’s infield single that positioned runners on the corners. Rylan Galvan cemented their lead with an RBI groundout, making the score 4-0.

UT Arlington managed to score a couple of runs in the fifth inning, narrowing the Texas lead to 4-2. However, Texas swiftly regained their footing, adding another four runs in the same inning, expanding their lead to 8-2.

Brown further bolstered their position with an opposite field two-run home run in the eighth inning, bringing the score to 10-2.

Despite the Mavericks scoring three runs in the ninth inning, the Longhorns managed to clinch the victory.

The Longhorns are now gearing up to host San Jose State in a non-conference weekend series at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The series is set to commence on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
